The Labor Movement needs new iconic imagery for the 21st century. #newunionart
IATSE Local 835 is excited that President Joe Biden and the new Democratic majority in Congress support unions and favor progressive legislation to protect our rights as Americans to organize.
The Union movement has been long been beaten down and needs some new ideas, some new inspiration and new artwork, images, and slogans to help us fight back and improve our image and reputation in America so that we can regain the respect and prestige we once had and, in the process, rebuild the middle class and an economy that works for working people.
To further our goal, IATSE Local 835 is sponsoring a contest. Submit digital copies of your artwork, photos, and or slogans that are intended to help jumpstart the Union movement in the United States.
Rosie the Riveter is a great iconic image, but she represents the 1940’s. Modern times require a new image to reinvigorate the Labor movement. Your images may be shared across the Labor movement through a Creative Commons license. You could make a difference in our future.
Entries will be judged by our Executive Board and the winner selected will receive a $250 cash prize. The contest ends September 1st.
Use all your working class creativity and passion to help usher in a new Union Era of solidarity. You could spark the change our Nation needs.
